# Uzume

Uzume is a Discord bot for AI chat, quotes, kudos and dreams. It is maintained by Lemonical.

## Start a conversation

Send a message that starts with a mention of Uzume:

@Uzume help me brainstorm a story
```

Select the actual bot mention in Discord. A mention without a message is ignored.

Reply to Uzume's chat response to continue. You do not need to mention the bot again. Other people can join the conversation by replying too.

A new leading mention without a reply starts a separate conversation. This also applies in DMs.

## Chat in a thread

Mention Uzume with a message to have it join a thread. Once it has joined, send messages normally. Everyone in that thread shares the same conversation.

Uzume responds to new text messages in joined threads without needing another mention or reply reference. Its replies outside threads reference the message that prompted them.

## Chat limits and data

* Prompts can contain up to 4,000 characters.
* Long replies are sent as a `response.txt` attachment.
* Responses are generated by AI and can contain mistakes.
* Chat prompts, responses and speaker details are stored so conversations survive restarts.
* OpenAI processes the current prompt with recent conversation history, speaker identifiers and names. The server name is included when chatting in a server.
* Conversation history stays within the same Discord channel and conversation.

There is currently no per-user chat opt-out or command to erase stored chat history.
